AFD is a separate division of HSM positioned well to assist family law lawyers by providing all accounting, tax, record keeping and other financial advice and calculations for clients experiencing separation and/or divorce.

Specifically, AFD will assist with:

- Preparing a client for the “Pre-ask” (for a divorce) meeting with their spouse
- Advise client regarding next steps – the “Post-Ask” meeting
- Post – separation accounting and record keeping
- Assistance with Calculation and Preparation of Financial Statement (Forms 13 and 13.1) to be submitted to your matrimonial lawyer for approval and for their use in negotiations with your spouse and their lawyer
- Assistance with Calculation of Net Family Property (“NFP”) for asset equalization to be submitted to your matrimonial lawyer for approval and for their use in negotiations with your spouse and their lawyer
- Calculation of estimated child care support
- Calculation of estimated Section 7 expenses
- Assistance with documentation gathering
- Referral source for matrimonial lawyers
- Work closely with your matrimonial lawyer to expedite the separation and divorce process
